Jung Shin Byun holds a Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an M.P.H. from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. During her training at the NIH, she conducted research aimed at developing biomarkers for tumor detection, diagnosis, and prognosis. She also contributed to studies involving pharmacological targeting for therapeutic discovery, genomics, tumor biology, and various cancer cohort projects.
Furthermore, she conducted independent research in cancer epidemiology, with a specific focus on exploring gene-environment interactions within diverse populations. Her extensive background in cancer research spans basic science, translational research, and population-based public health and epidemiology. In her current role, she will provide support to pertinent cancer research initiatives and contribute to cancer research training within the Diagnostic Biomarker Technology Branch.
